How to Apply

To apply to the program there are three components.  These three components are:  1)  Meeting the eligibility critiera, 2)  Getting a referral letter(s) from someone in your command and 3)  taking an IT apptitude exam.

These three elements are explained below in more details.

Step #1 - Meeting the Eligibility Criteria

The following is the eligibility criteria for registering to the W2CCA

  1. Be transitioning or have transitioned from military service;
  2. Suffer from injuries or illnesses incurred while deployed in overseas contingency operations supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and/or Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) since September 11, 2001; and
  3. Receive, or expect to receive, a physical disability rating of 30% or greater in at least one of the specific categories listed below that substantially affect a major life function, or receive, or expect to receive, a combined rating equal to or greater than 50% for any other combat or combat related condition:

Please Note:  Should a service member be unable to participate due to the severity of his/her injuries, the same support will be extended to a member of his/her immediate family who may be seeking training.  Widows and widowers of service members who have paid the ultimate sacrifice during OIF or OEF are also eligible for support under the W2CCA program.  If support is provided to a family member and the service member becomes able to participate, support will then be extended to him/her.

Step #2 - Obtaining a Referral
We need you to obtain a referral letter (or letters) from someone in your command that will allow you to participate in this program.  Depending upon your status you can use a referral letter from a number of different people.

Active Duty:  The referral letter should come from one of the following types of individuals:  Transition Counselor, Occupational Therapist, Recovery Coordinator, or Section Leader.

Retired:  We need three professional references that can supply you with a letter of recommendation.   These letters can come from employers, supervisor or boss that can speak to you being fit for this type of program.  The referal letters cannot be accepted from family or friends.  They must be of a professional and supervisory nature.

If you decide to proceed with filling out an applicaiton and applying, please fax the letter(s) to us at 703-754-8215.
Please note:  We will not be able to accept you into the program without this requirement being met.
Step #3 - Taking an IT Apptitude Exam

Once you complete steps #1 and #2, you will be eligible to take and pass an IT apptitude exam.  Please note:  The IT apptitude exam does not deal with any IT concepts or technologies but rather it deals with identifying the cognative skills necessary to be successful in the IT field.  We will teach all the necessary concepts and techologies as a part of the program.  We don't want anyone to fail and some people are just not ideal candidates for a job in the IT/cyber security field.  We want to make sure if you are interested in being part of our academy we can do everything in our power to help you succeed.

If you are able to meet steps #1 and #2 above we will schedule the online apptitude exam for completion in the next couple of weeks.
